Tottenham are to battle with Arsenal for the signature of Morgan Schneiderlin - but not until the summer. A switch in January for the Southampton midfielder has been deemed unrealistic, but a £25m move at the end of the season is seen is viable. The North London sides are set to try and lure the France international with the 25-year-old having to choose between them. More on that story here.
STAYING PUT...
Andros Townsend has made clear he wants to stay at Tottenham amid talk he could be used as a make-weight in Spurs' pursuit of West Brom striker Saido Berahino. "Unless the club come and tell me they want me to leave then I won’t be going anywhere. I’m fighting for my shirt. The last six or seven windows have been the same, with my name linked with other clubs," he said.
The deal for Berahino that surfaced today is the Mauricio Pochettino is willing to offer Townsend and Aaron Lennon in return for the young striker.
Spurs, along with Liverpool, have been linked with a move for Fabian Delph. The midfielder's contract will expire at the end of the season, raising the prospect that a cut-price offer during the current window could see him leave Aston Villa before then. However, Goal.com are reporting that Delph wants to take his time deciding over his future and will wait until the end of the season before joining another club. That may give Villa a chance to convince him to stay for the long-term.
CONTROVERSIAL DEAL...
A move that would send shock waves through North London has been raised. With Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny being caught smoking after the recent defeat to Southampton, Arsene Wenger is thinking about a move for a new No 1. Among those linked with a switch to the Emirates, by the Daily Mail, is Hugo Lloris. The France international has been in superb form this season and any deal, rare between the two sides, would likely have to be in excess of £20m.
