From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR BOUND...

Tottenham are looking at Everton winger Kevin Mirallas, who is reported to be unhappy at Goodison Park.

With 18 months left on his contract Roberto Martinez is keen to convince the Belgian winger, 27, that the Merseyside club can match his ambition of playing in top European competition.

The Evening Standard report that Aaron Lennon could be used as a sweetener to land Mirallas. Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid are also said to have made enquiries about the winger.

Spurs could again move for another winger, this time Yevhen Konoplyanka, who they have been linked with in the past. The Daily Mail report that Dnipro are prepared to sell the Ukraine international this month rather than lose him for nothing in the summer.

It could take £7million to bring him to White Hart Lane, Liverpool almost paid £20m for him last summer.

THE DEALS OFF...

Italian striker Simone Zaza wants to stay with Sassuolo until at least the end of the season, according to Sky Italia and Gazzetta dello Sport.

Juventus own 50 per cent of the rights to the 23-year-old, who has impressed for the minnows this season, scoring seven goals for Sassuolo and earning an international call.

HEADING FOR THE EXIT...

An Italian website, calciomercato.it, claims that Roma want Spurs flop Roberto Soldado - but only if striker Mattia Destro leaves the club. Destro has been linked with moves to Arsenal and Chelsea.

STAYING PUT...

Tottenham have opened talks over a new contract with star man Harry Kane, according to ESPN. The 21-year-old has been brilliant this season and is on the brink of an England call-up having scored 17 goals in all competitions.
