From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Welcome to silly season, the time of year when stories of clubs spending ludicrous sums of money on players you've never heard of is par for the course. We take a look at some of today's most intriguing rumours...

Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway wants to give Sylvan Ebanks-Blake a Premier League 'lifeline' apparently. Currently at League One side Wolverhampton Wanderers, the striker would probably welcome a move to the top-flight. Although he'll be out injured until October whoever he's playing for.

Recently a free agent, Florent Malouda is set to leave England for a move to Greek side Olympiakos. After being told he had no future with Chelsea, Malouda has failed to find another Premier League side needing his services.

The talk Brazil international moving to Tottenham has led to speculation Scott Parker could be on his way out. QPR and Fulham have reportedly joined Sunderland in showing interest, with Cottagers manager Martin Jol ready to table a £4m pound bid for the 32-year-old.

Swansea City captain Ashley Williams is set to tell the club he wants to leave this summer. Arsenal are rumoured to be his preferred choice, with Everton and Liverpool also interested in the Welshman.

And finally, Everton's new boss Roberto Martinez is looking to raid his old club Wigan for the services of Arouna Kone. The Ivorian has a £5m buy out clause in his contract and Norwich are also interested.
