Thomas Muller has spoken of his special relationship with Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, adding weight to speculation he could move to Old Trafford this summer.

The World Cup winner has been linked with a move to United for some time, with Van Gaal known to be an admirer of the Bayern Munich attacker. It was the Dutch coach who gave Muller his Bayern Munich debut.

It's believed that Manchester United tried to sign the forward last summer only to see the player sign a new four-year deal at the Allianz Arena.

Yet despite the Germany international so recently committing his future to Bayern Munich, speculation has begun to mount again over a possible exit, particularly in the aftermath of the 3-0 Champions League defeat to Barcelona in which Muller was unable to disguise his frustration at being substituted by Pep Guardiola.

Those rumours will only increase following his latest comments.

“It’s a secret for nobody,” the 25-year-old said.

“Louis van Gaal and I have a relationship that goes beyond that which is normal between a player and a coach.

“However, I have a contract with Bayern until 2017."
