Tevez torn over Manchester United future
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez has made fresh claims that he expects to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season.
Tevez is currently on loan at the club and no deal has been agreed to keep him in Manchester on a permanent basis.
The Argentinean told Madrid's Cadena COPE radio station: "It's true I've spent a lot of time on the bench and I'd like to play more. But every time I'm given a chance I do all I can to do well and take full advantage.
"Yes it's true I see myself more leaving United than staying here. I don't see why I should lie to people or anything because the fans support me a lot, as you can see. So I don't have any reason to lie to them.
"While I wear the United shirt, I will leave my life on the pitch. My future? I don't know what will happen for my future. I would like to go to Spain, yes, but I don't know yet. I have no preference for a team.
"With respect to the fans and the history of Manchester United, I don't want to leave the club. But, from a personal aspect, my exit will be the best solution.
"I need continuity in the team to offer my best. If this doesn't happen I believe this will be my last year," he added.
