From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Swansea are closing in on striker Danny Graham after having a £3.5m bid accepted by Watford. Swans manager Brendan Rodgers, a long-time admirer of Graham, had a £3m offer rejected by the Hornets soon after his side gained promotion to the Premier League.
But the south Wales club returned with a club-record offer which Watford accepted over the weekend, paving the way for talks over personal terms with the forward who scored 24 league goals last season to top the Championship's scoring table.
Swansea's current transfer record is the deal that took Scott Sinclair from Chelsea to the Liberty Stadium last summer for an initial £500,000 which has the potential to rise to £1m with add-ons. There are no shortage of suitors for Graham's services, with Watford having previously rejected bids of £2.5m from QPR and West Bromwich.
And although the path is now cleared for the 25-year-old to talk to Swansea, rival parties will be alerted to the £3.5m figure accepted and may now launch similar bids.
