Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Under Mark Hughes, Stoke played a more attractive brand of football last season, finishing in the top half of the table.
They will want more of the same this time around and to just keep earning better and better league finishes, relegation worries are starting to be a thing of the past for the Potters.
COMPLETED TRANSFERS
Mame Biram Diouf - Free from Hannover
A familiar name, if not face, returns to the Premier League with ex-Manchester United frontman, Diouf, joining the Potters. The 26-year-old only made five appearances during his three years with United and will be hoping to have more of an impact on the league this time around. The player from Senegal did do better in Germany however, scoring just under a goal every two games.
Dionatan Teixeira - Undisclosed from Banska Bystrica
The 21-year-old Brazilian defender is one for the future but made a promising start to professional football in Slovakia.
Phil Bardsley - Free from Sunderland
The defender decided not to renew his contract with Sunderland at the end of last season and will now look to break into Stoke's starting lineup. The 28-year-old played close to 200 games for the Blackcats and has been given the number two shirt by Mark Hughes, suggesting he is a big part of his plans this season. Bardsley also has 13 Scotland caps to his name.
Steve Sidwell - Free from Fulham
Following Fulham's relegation to the Championship at the end of last season, Sidwell has managed to remain a top flight player by signing for Stoke. The former Chelsea, Reading and Aston Villa man played in every league game last year.
Bojan Krkic - Undisclosed from Barcelona
Stoke signed the Spanish striker Bojan Krkic from Barcelona on a four-year deal. The 23-year-old, who broke into the Barca first team in 2007 but struggled to make an impression after re-signing following two years at Roma, moves to the Britannia Stadium for an undisclosed fee.
Victor Moses - Loan from Chelsea
Did enough at Wigan to secure a move to Chelsea. But the winger went the way of so many at Stamford Bridge after failing to find a regular spot in the starting XI. Showed he still had a few tricks up his sleeve whilst on loan at Liverpool last season - at least enough for Stoke to give him a chance.
