From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Stephane Mbia claims he has made up his mind to join QPR despite his love for Marseille and a rival bid from Fenerbahce.

The Cameroon midfielder, 26, is set to become Mark Hughes' 10th signing of the summer after agreeing to leave the team where he has spent the past three seasons.

Having won Ligue 1 in 2010 and three successive Coupe de la Ligue titles since moving from Rennes, he admits he is leaving with a heavy heart but is relishing his new challenge.

"Marseille is still in my heart," he said. "I won my first titles here.

"I have chosen Queens Park Rangers despite a last-minute bid from Fenerbahce.

"It's a new challenge to enjoy. I always aim as high as possible.

"I am excited but calm over this move. I will discover another world."

There was no comment from QPR when contacted by Press Association Sport.
