Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi has committed himself to Villarreal by signing a new contract. The Italy striker, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham in recent weeks, will now remain at El Madrigal until June 2016.

The 23-year-old moved to the Spanish side from Manchester United in 2007 after failing to settle at Old Trafford and has established himself as one of the leading strikers in La Liga. Rossi has scored 19 goals this season to help Villarreal to third in the table.

Another reported Spurs target, the Bayern Munich midfielder Mark van Bommel, yesterday moved to Milan with immediate effect. The 33-year-old had also been linked with Manchester City.
