Zinedine Zidane has opened the door to Real Madrid making a sensational late move for Neymar by insisting “anything can happen”.

The Paris Saint-Germain star has been pushed towards the exit with the French club’s fans demanding his departure.

A return to Barcelona has been mentioned, as well as a controversial move to the Bernabeu.

Real have splashed almost £300m this summer with the acquisitions of Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo.

And Zidane has not ruled out another monster signing in Neymar before the window closes on September 2.

“Neymar is not [in our squad] but until September 2, anything can happen,” the 47-year-old said.

“We are with the squad that we have and we are only thinking about that.”

Zidane watched on as Real lost their final pre-season friendly to Roma on penalties after a 2-2 draw in normal time.

The Spaniards led twice through Marcelo and Casemiro, with the Italians hitting back on both occasions through Diego Perotti and Edin Dzeko.

Now attention turns towards the La Liga opener against Celta Vigo on August 17.
