Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Daily Star have reported that Louis van Gaal is interested in the £45m-rated Gabon forward, who has scored 17 goals in the Bundesliga this season - that's more than Robert Lewandowski's 14.
Aubameyang has also been linked with a move to Liverpool, where he would be linked with a reunion with his former manager at Dortmund, Jurgen Klopp.
The 26-year-old Aubameyang joined Dortmund from Saint Etienne back in 2013. He has already equalled his best-ever goals return for a season, after just 22 games in all competitions he has scored 25 goals - the same amount as it took him 45 games to score last season.
Firepower has certainly been lacking at Old Trafford this season, they have failed to score more than two goals in a match in their last nine matches in all competitions.
Manchester United are next in action at home against West Ham United on Saturday. United are currently in third place in the Premier League, one point behind leaders Manchester City.
