Dr Italo Linfante of the Miami Cardiac and Vascular Institute was alleged to be responsible for Pogba’s medical examination by AS, the Spanish tabloid.
According to AS, Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, told Linfante not to cut his holiday in Italy short and return to Miami to carry out a medical as the deal was yet to be completed.
Linfante, however, has rejected the story, having been asked to verify its claims on Twitter.
“I have no idea what this is all about,” he tweeted, in response to one user who asked whether he was scheduled to carry out Pogba’s medical.
When asked by another whether AS’s story was true, he replied: “They are not talking about me, maybe another Dr Linfante?”
In AS’s report, it is claimed that the Linfante in question works at Miami’s Jackson Hospital, the city's major teaching hospital.
Linfante's current place of work is the Miami Cardiac and Vascular Institute.
It is thought that Pogba's long-anticipated move to Old Trafford is being held up because of Raiola's €25m fee, which neither United or Juventus, Pogba's current club, wish to pay.
Pogba would become Jose Mourinho's third signing since his appointment as United's new manager in May, following the arrivals of Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
