The transfer was previously thought to be dead after it arose that Roma were in pole position to sign the Uruguayan, but press in Italy now believe that the Premier League is the likeliest destination for the 28-year-old.
Newspaper Tuttosport suggest the reigning Italian champions are unwilling to entertain the prospect of Caceres joining another Serie A side while they fight to retain their title.
After a poor start to the season, Juve have recovered with nine straight wins to sit second in the table, two points behind Napoli and five ahead of fifth-placed Roma.
Caceres has played just three times this season, and with the Uruguayan out of contract in June, it is claimed that the Italians are keen to move the defender on this month.
Liverpool’s shortage of fit defensive players has forced them to search the market for cover. Injuries to Martin Skrtel, Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho this month has already seen Jurgen Klopp recall youngster Tiago Ilori from his loan spell at Aston Villa while also bringing in Steven Caulker from QPR on a temporary basis.
The Merseyside club have supposedly agreed a deal to bring Schalke defender Joel Matip to the club on a free transfer this summer, but reinforcements are needed now and Caceres could be seen as fitting the bill.
Cacares rejoined Juventus from Sevilla in 2012 after previously featuring for the club on loan from Barcelona three years earlier, and has gone on to make more than 60 appearances for the club.
