Barcelona are being linked with a summer move for Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo, according to reports in Spain.

The Argentine has endured an injury-hit time at Old Trafford playing in only 30 Premier League matches - less than half of the 68 the club have played since he joined for £16million in August 2014.

According to Diario Sport, Rojo, a regular in the Argentina national side, is a good friend of star player Lionel Messi and is believed to be keen on a move to the club.

Barcelona are also believed to be impressed with Rojo's versatility, with the 26-year-old equally comfortable at left-back, as a wing-back or in the centre.

With veteran full-back Adriano, 31, out of contract and expected to leave the Nou Camp in the summer, Luis Enrique will want defensive options in his squad.

With the emergence of Luke Shaw, Manchester United do not really have much use for Rojo, and with the club facing another summer of upheaval, they will need to raise funds.

Sport report that the price would be around €12m (approx. £9.61m).
