Liverpool are reported to have seen a £10m bid for Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen, with the La Liga champions holding out for at least £20m if they are to let their talented young goalkeeper leave this month.

Having been deployed in a rotation system with fellow goalkeeper Claudio Bravo last season, Ter Stegen has fallen behind the Chile international this season and has been afforded largely Champions League group stage and cup fixtures only, with the 23-year-old making just four appearances in La Liga this season.

As a result, Ter Stegen has been linked with a move away from the Nou Camp, having already expressed his unhappiness with his role as a bit-part player last year.

According to The Mirror, Liverpool are interested in Ter Stegen despite handing a new five-year contract to current No 1 goalkeeper Simon Mignolet earlier this month, despite a number of high-profile mistakes and the poor performances from the Belgium international.

It’s claimed that Liverpool have already moved for Ter Stegen with a £10m bid, but were rebuffed by the Catalan side who would be unwilling to let the goalkeeper leave unless the Reds double their offer.

Current back-up goalkeeper, Adam Bogdan, has shown little to suggest he has what it takes to emerge as a Premier league goalkeeper since joining the club on a free transfer from Bolton in the summer, having conceded directly from a corner in the FA Cup third round draw with Exeter as well as allowing Watford to score when he failed to catch another set-piece.

According to The Sun, Bogdan is already eyeing a way out of Anfield, and could be allowed to leave at the end of the season if not in January.
