From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The France international has emerged as a possible successor to David De Gea at Old Trafford, should the current Manchester United number one move to Real Madrid.
Whilst Tottenham will be desperate to hold on to Lloris, the 28-year-old has now spent three seasons at White Hart Lane without playing in the Champions League and the club may feel obliged to let him depart should a club in Europe's elite competition come calling.
"Any player needs to play at a high level to improve yourself," Lloris told Sky Sports.
"I think every player wants to play this competition [the Champions League] because it's a high level and we work for that, we work every day for that and I hope to get there and there's a chance in my career to play Champions League."
When quizzed earlier on Sunday about reports linking him with a move to Old Trafford, Lloris said: "There is a keeper in place at Manchester United"
Lloris only signed a new five-year contract last summer, putting Spurs in a strong position with regard to setting a transfer fee.
