Manchester United underachiever Angel di Maria could be set for an early departure at Old Trafford.

The Argentinian joined United for £59.7m in the summer but has struggled in his debut season in England football for Louis van Gaal's men.

Di Maria was forced into insisting he is happy at Old Trafford last week as speculation about his future refused to die down.

According to the Daily Mail, however, the 27-year-old would rather leave in the summer than prove himself with the Red Devils.

Last spring he had been lined up to sign for Paris Saint-Germain, but Financial Fair Play restrictions scuppered that deal before it could get started.

While the Ligue 1 champions would still need to find a way of financing the deal in accordance with the laws of the game, it is understood they remain interested in luring him away from United.

PSG striker Edinson Cavani has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months and could play a part in negotiations between the two parties.
