The 27-year-old, who has scored 21 goals in 20 Bundesliga appearances this season, has been linked with moves to Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Arsenal.
But the former Borussia Dortmund man signed a five-year contract at Bayern in 2014 and has remained tight-lipped about his future. However it is thought Pep Guardiola’s departure to Manchester City from the beginning of the upcoming campaign could influence a host of Allianz Arena regulars.
“I know there is interest for me abroad, but I can well conceive of extending due to a great team and good teamwork - because the club is known to recognise achievements,” Lewandowski told Sport Bild.
Outgoing Munich boss Guardiola recently hailed the Poland international as the “most professional” player he has every worked with. “Of course I have noticed how the club has been preparing for the future recently,” the Catalonian added. “The contract extensions of Jerome Boateng, Thomas Muller and others were a good sign that Bayern can keep its top players despite the money from England.”
Meanwhile City captain Vincent Kompany has claimed it would be “stupid” for the club to give up on the title after losing against title rivals Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur in quick succession.
“There is not a chance we will give up on the title. We have to improve,” said Kompany.
“We probably could have played a little bit better. Until the penalty, the game plan was OK and we were defending well.
“But we would be stupid to forget our history and how we react in those moments.”
