Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.PSV Eindhoven midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has admitted that he would love to move to Manchester United in the summer and link up with Louis van Gaal.
The 24-year-old was part of the Holland World Cup squad managed by Van Gaal in Brazil last summer.
"Of course I would like to work with him again," Wijnaldum told Sky Sports.
"He is a good trainer, and makes players better. I work really fine with him and he is a great man.
"He gave me a chance and opportunity to play in a World Cup after seven months out injured, and I am thankful for that. He helped me get my confidence back.
"I am happy at PSV but I am a player with a lot of ambition. I want to play in a stronger league than the Eredivisie.
"With my quality I feel I can bring a lot to a team that I will join. I want to show it in the big leagues; England, Italy, Spain, Germany and France."
Wijnaldum has scored 15 goals for PSV this season.
