Paul Pogba’s return to Manchester United could be announced any day now, which leaves you wondering why they don’t just get it over and done with already.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the i's will be dotted, the t's will be crossed and the many, many zeros will be rounded “before the start of the Premier League season”.

Rio Ferdinand, meanwhile, believes that if his old club somehow fail to get the deal over the line, it could affect on the dressing room.

“As a player in the changing room, you’ve been thinking for so long: ‘He’s coming, he’s coming’. If he doesn’t sign it could have an adverse effect mentally on the players in the changing room.

“For a short period of time at least. It’s important they sign him.”

Elsewhere, Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol has pointed out that Pogba is due to return to training at Juventus on Sunday. Surely, therefore, we’ll have confirmation by then?

Jose Mourinho still has designs on John Stones, the Everton defender, according to ESPN.

With Pogba all but wrapped up, the Portuguese’s attentions have turned to central defence, where Chris Smalling is in need of a regular partner.

United “are monitoring Stones’ situation”, despite the interest of cross-town rivals Manchester City.

Transfer window done deals and rumours

And finally, the idea that Alvaro Morata may yet rock up at Old Trafford this summer.

According to El Confidencial, United, Arsenal and Chelsea – the three clubs keeping tabs on Morata – are yet to offer anything near his €70m price tag.

Rightly so, perhaps, for a striker who scored just 12 times last season.
