In a rare visit to Twitter account, Raiola used just his 25th tweet from his verified account to confirm that reports of a deal being agreed between the two clubs, and subsequently with the player, are not true.
Raiola wrote: “There is no deal done regarding Paul Pogba, lots of bla bla bla.”
It represents the first time Raiola has talked about player activity since he discussed Zlatan Ibrahimovic potentially joining Galatasaray, in which he completely played down any talks. Raiola has since structured Ibrahimovic’s move to United, where he also took Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer from Borussia Dortmund and discussed the proposed £100m move for Pogba.
Reports on Wednesday night claimed that United had reached a verbal deal with Pogba that would see him sign a five-year contract on wages of £220,000-a-week after tax, meaning the France international would become the highest paid player in the Premier League and the pocket the third highest wages in the world.
However, Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta was quoted in the Italian media as claiming that United are still yet to contact the Serie A champions about a transfer offer for Pogba, and with the player still on holiday following his Euro 2016 commitments, any agreement is unlikely to be reached in the coming days.
“There is no contact with Manchester United for Pogba,” said Marotta. “The situation is no different to when I spoke to you on Friday.”
