Coleman was a target for former Red Devils boss David Moyes three years ago but it seems Mourinho is keen to reignite the club’s interest for the 28-year-old.
The former Chelsea manager has started the season with Antonio Valencia at right-back as doubts grow over Matteo Darmian’s Old Trafford future, with reports in Italy suggesting he is set for a return to Serie A.
United sent their scouts to Everton’s recent 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace with Mourinho changing his mind on Lukaku.
Mourinho sold the 23-year-old to Everton for £28m while he was manager of Chelsea after deciding he wasn’t convinced by the Belgian’s ability to transform himself into a world-class striker.
However, he appears to have performed a U-turn on his decision and is now desperate for Lukaku to front United’s attack with Wayne Rooney out of form and Zlatan Ibrahimovic turning 35.
Significantly, Lukaku shares an agent with United new boys Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, which could sway the striker to choose Old Trafford over the likes of Chelsea and AC Milan, who are both interested in his services.
Hi agent, Mino Raiola, earned over £30m from Manchester United this summer with his fee from Pogba’s deal alone netting his £20m.
