Manchester United are on the cusp of completing their third signing of the window after making a breakthrough in their attempts to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester.

The Foxes had turned down United's initial bid, but there has been progress on an £80m fee, which includes conditional clauses.

The deal would take United's summer spending close to £150m, but there is a rejuvenated look to the team.

Defence has long been a problem for the club, with Phil Jones and Chris Smalling seen by many as inadequate, and now United may have finally found themselves a duo to compete with the top sides.

The club see Maguire and Victor Lindelof as duo that will be the centre of their new-look defence and be the base of a hard-pressing team.

Scroll through the gallery above to see a potential first-team with Maguire at the heart of the defence.
