Manchester United are prepared to swap Angel Di Maria for PSG striker Edinson Cavani, according to reports.

The Argentina winger only joined from Real Madrid last summer but after enduring a difficult season at Old Trafford, has been persistently linked with a swift exit.

Barcelona are reportedly keen on the 27-year-old, with Lionel Messi wanting to link up with his international team-mate at club level. Bayern Munich have also been circling. However, Manchester United are not be willing to countenance letting their £59.7m record signing leave for either of those clubs, it's understood.

But the Red Devils could save face should the departure of Di Maria so soon after his arrival allow them to bring in a world class signing in the shape of Cavani.

Uruguay international Cavani has found himself persistently linked with an exit from the French capital whilst PSG tried to sign Di Maria last summer - a context that gives the potential 'swap' some logic.
