MANCHESTER UNITED BOUND...

Borussia Dortmund could be prepared to sell Ilkay Gundogan to Manchester United during January - rather than risk losing him for free next summer.

Gundogan's contract is set to expire in July and with Dortmund struggling at the bottom of the Bundesliga, they risk losing a host of stars including Gundogan and Marco Reus for nothing. The club could be willing to sell the 24-year-old for around £16million, report the Daily Express.

After his agent said on Monday that a deal was off, reports in Italy suggest that Manchester United have become the favourite in the race to sign Wesley Sneijder from Galatasaray. Juventus had been in the lead but United may be prepared to pay £8m, around double what the Italian club can afford.

Experienced Dutch midfielder Nigel De Jong could be offered to United by AC Milan, as the struggling giants continue to rebuild their squad.

Classy French centre-back Raphael Varane also remains a target - though United will face a battle with Chelsea for the Real Madrid man. Varane is unhappy at Madrid having played in just five La Liga matches this season; the 21-year-old would be available for around £20m.

The Daily Star report that United and Arsenal will fight over Ayoze Perez, who has been a bright spot for Newcastle in his brief spell at St James' Park.

Wilfried Bony has also demanded Swansea that he leave, with a number of clubs interested in the Ivorian.

ON THE WAY OUT...

Speculation about Radamel Falcao going to Juventus, reported yesterday, continues to grow, thouh United insist they will not make any decision about his future until at least Agpril.

Burnley are looking to make the loan move for defender Michael Keane a permanent one.

Despite interest from United Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta would prefer a move back to former club Inter Milan, if he moves at all.

Morgan Schneiderlin has dealt a blow to United, Arsenal and Tottenham by saying he will not leave Southampton until the summer.

Sunderland are preparing to bid £8m for Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk, with United needing to move quick if they are to make a bid of their own.

Schalke chairman Clemens Tonnies has told the German media that young star Julian Draxler is not going anywhere.
