Manchester United appear to have entered the race for Lille playmaker Eden Hazard.

The Belgian international is considered one of the hottest prospects in world football with Real Madrid's sporting director Zinédine Zidane saying he would sign Hazard "with his eyes closed".

The 21-year-old has consequently been linked with a host of big English clubs, including Manchester City, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal.

It would now seem United have thrown their hat in the ring after manager Alex Ferguson confirmed an interest in the £30m-rated player.

The Scot told French radio station RMC Sport: "I came to watch Lille play Lyon and followed Hazard of course, along with other players.

"He is a very good player who has many qualities. He is particularly fast over the first 10 yards."

Hazard has found the net 16 times in 33 matches for Lille this season, with the club sitting third in Ligue 1.

Earlier this year, his club intimated they would be prepared to sell the Belgian this summer - but only at the right price. Hazard's contract runs until 2015 but it's understood he has a buy-out clause of £33m.
