After a lacklustre defence of their 2013/14 championship, Manchester City went to town in the summer transfer market, splashing big on Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne, amongst others.

Manuel Pellegrini also shipped out the deadwood as Edin Dzeko and Steven Jovetic were both moved out on loan to Serie A sides.

A small English contingent, featuring James Milner, Scott Sinclair and Micah Richards, were also moved on. Already, at this early stage of the season, City look like a complete and balanced outfit. As long as Sergio Aguero stays fit, it may take something special to stop them this season.
