Mahmoud Dahoud has dropped a hint that is in favour of a move to Liverpool – according to the club’s eagle-eyed Instagram-using supporters, at least.

The 20-year-old Borussia Möchengladbach midfielder is understood to have turned down a contract offer from the Bundesliga side recently, a decision which fuelled speculation of a move to Anfield.

Supporters are keeping their eyes peeled for any further indication that Dahoud is considering a switch to Merseyside and his social media activity, in particular, is being closely monitored.

On Sunday, the Syrian-born Germany Under-21 international ‘liked’ an image of Jürgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager, on Instagram and it did not go unnoticed.

The rather innocuous ‘like’, which can easily be done without intention on Instagram, nevertheless excited the many Liverpool fans who hope to see the youngster line up in their midfield next season.

It is thought that Gladbach woud demand around £25million for Dahoud, who shares an agent with Liverpool midfielder Emre Can.

Max Eberl, the club’s sporting director, ruled out any sale in April, saying: “We are a hungry club and we need every good player."

Gladbach recently sold Dahoud’s former midfield partner, Granit Xhaka, to Arsenal for a fee believed to be in the region of £30million.
