From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Liverpool have reportedly made an offer for Mattia de Sciglio, the Milan full-back, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Alberto Moreno is the club’s only natural left-back, with Jon Flanagan linked to Burnley, Jürgen Klopp needs to strengthen his reserves in the position.
A bid of £16m has been tabled, according to the Italian sports daily and Donato Orgnoni, De Sciglio’s agent, recently admitted there is interest in his client.
“There are certainly many clubs interested. We’re looking around,” he said. “He’s very much appreciated both in Italy and abroad, we’ve also had contact with Napoli.”
Liverpool are also keeping tabs on Ludovic Blas, the 18-year-old Guingamp prodigy, according to L’Equipe.
Internazionale are also sniffing around the youngster, but Blas would prefer to stay in Ligue 1 and switch to Lyon.
Could Lucas Leiva be the next out the door at Anfield?
Liverpool’s longest-serving player has survived several scares during his ten years on Merseyside and came particularly close to leaving two years ago.
Galatasaray are his latest suitors and, though Klopp wishes to keep the stalwart midfielder, he cannot offer him a guaranteed starting place.
Lucas is not looking to move, according to the Daily Mail, but his head could be turned by the promise of regular minutes.
