From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Liverpool are weighing up a last-minute £20m bid for Bordeaux’s Francois Kamano, according to The Sun.

It’s believed the striker would be available for an initial £15m plus add-ons and provide ample cover with Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane all having been on international duty during the summer.

Bruno Fernandes has told Sporting Lisbon he’s ready to leave the club and Tottenham have re-entered the race for the midfielder after Manchester United turned their attention to Paulo Dybala.

Liverpool were said to be targeting the midfielder earlier in the window, however, it appears unlikely that the Reds will make a last-ditch bid to scupper Spurs’ hopes.

Dejan Lovren is reportedly set to join Roma this summer as the Croatian centre-back pursues first-team football.

Having fallen behind Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip at Anfield, the veteran defender has been seeking a move with AC Milan also interest.

However, he now looks set to move to the capital as Roma bid to replace Kostas Manolas, who moved to Napoli earlier in the window.

Harry Wilson is reportedly being targeted by Borussia Dortmund, Bournemouth and Aston Villa, with Jurgen Klopp only interested in selling the 22-year-old winger on a permanent deal.

“We are in constant conversation, that’s clear,” said the Reds boss. “We have to do the right thing for us and for the boy. That’s how it is.

“It’s nothing to talk in public about it, so we will see what happens in the next eight or nine days until the window closes.”

Ryan Kent is another young talent who is set to be moved on rather than be sent on a loan spell. Kent spent last season at Rangers, who are still interested in signing him up for another season.
