Your support makes all the difference.Liverpool have made a move for Red Star Belgrade midfielder Marko Grujic in an attempt to sign the young Serbian in January, but the player is looking to put off a move to Anfield until the end of the season.
19-year-old Grujic has caught the eye of a number of clubs, including interest from the Premier League, after breaking into Red Star’s first team this season following a loan spell with FK Kolubara.
Grujic has already made 19 Super Liga appearances this season notching five goals along the way, and the Serbia Under-21 international has clearly caught the eye of Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp after the player himself revealed that the Reds have made an approach for him.
However, Grujic has also stressed that he does not want to leave Belgrade in the January transfer window, and after helping Red Star to the top of the league table in Serbia he is intent on helping the club qualify for the Champions league before moving on.
“I’ll try to respect the club, the fans and the general public, but again I think that for myself I have to choose the best environment where I get the chance to play and where I work with good coaches in good conditions,” said Grujic.
“It is certain that I remain here until the end of qualifying for the Champions League. I had a talk with Liverpool but I did not receive yet any agreement. I’m still a Red Star player.”
Klopp’s scouts watch Grujic score twice in the 7-2 demolition of Cukaricki last weekend, and it’s believed he could be available for around £5m come the end of the season.
He is yet to make his Serbia debut, although he has emerged as a regular starter for the nation’s Under-21s and he was also part of their Under-20 World Cup-winning side last summer.
