Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is looking to reunited with former player Lucas Leiva.

The Napoli manager has had his interest piqued, according to Sky Sports Italia, after Liverpool announced the signing of another midfielder, Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen for £10m.

Benitez was the man who brought the Brazilian holding midfielder to Anfield in 2007, for £5m from Gremio.

Although he was initially criticised, Lucas developed into a key player for the Reds and has now made almost 250 appearances for club, although injury has interrupted him in the last couple of seasons.

Under Brendan Rodgers last season the 27-year-old was in and out of the team, starting just 20 of Liverpool's 38 Premier League matches, with Rodgers preferring Jordan Henderson, who started all but three.

Benitez is also rumoured to be interested in Liverpool defender Daniel Agger, although he has ruled out a move for Pepe Reina, who spent last season on loan at Napoli, as his wages are obstructive.
