Mario Balotelli has no intention of playing for Liverpool again after he admitted he was “not happy” at Anfield following his failed £16m move.

The controversial Italian striker, who is currently on loan with former AC Milan after a poor debut season with Liverpool, joined the club in late deal that was structured during Brendan Rodgers’ time in charge, with the Northern Irishman since admitting that signing Balotelli was something he did not want to do but was forced to after other options became unavailable.

Balotelli took 13 games before opening his Premier League account, and scored just four goals in 28 appearances in all competitions to cap a dismal season that culminated in the Italy international returning to Milan on loan for the 2015/16 season, and he has expressed his desire to remain in his homeland despite scoring just once in Serie A.

"In terms of my future I want to stay with Milan because I was not happy at Liverpool and don't want to go back,” Balotelli told Mediaset Premium, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Plus, Milan have the money to buy me.

"I've played well in my last two games and there are six left for me to prove what I can do."

Balotelli’s time in Milan has not been straight-forward, although the departure of sacked manager Siniša Mihajlović and appointment of Cristian Brocchi has seen Balotelli starts the last two matches in Seria A and prompt suggestions he could yet have a future in Milan.

Balotelli is unlikely to add to his 33 international caps at this summer’s Euro 2016 Championship after the striker fell out of Antonio Conte’s plans following his lack of football this season.
