Liverpool have again been warned against making any attempt to sign Christian Pulisic in the January transfer window.
The Borussia Dortmund youngster is understood to be high on Jurgen Klopp’s list of transfer targets, having reportedly been the subject of an unsuccessful bid in the summer.
Michael Zorc, Dortmund’s sporting director, suggested that any attempt to prise Pulisic away from Westphalia was “not worth the effort” last month and has now reiterated his remarks.
“We have communicated very clearly that we won't sell Christian, and that he's very much part of our plans,” Zorc told Bild. “Liverpool don't need to waste their time.”
Moussa Dembele is another young player to have been linked with Anfield in recent weeks and, according to the Daily Star, they may face competition for the Celtic striker.
The 20-year-old has apparently attracted the attention of Arsenal, having impressed during his debut season in Scottish football under Brendan Rodgers.
Dembele was previously a target for Tottenham Hotspur, who came close to signing the youngster from Fulham earlier this year.
Given Klopp’s defensive issues, Newcastle United’s Jamaal Lascelles may be a worthy addition.
The 23-year-old has impressed since taking on the captain’s armband at St James’ Park under Rafael Benitez and, according to the Sunderland Echo, his development has not gone unnoticed at Anfield.
A scout from Merseyside reportedly watched Lascelles during Saturday’s 4-0 home win over Birmingham City.
