From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Nine months on from his appointment, Jürgen Klopp is beginning to make an impression on Liverpool’s transfer dealings.

The German held back from making wholesale changes in January, with Marko Grujic’s move from Red Star Belgrade the only permanent transfer to be arranged.

Klopp’s now making up for lost time and has since overseen the completion of three further signings.

Joel Matip, whose free transfer from Schalke 04 was arranged back in February, is now officially a Liverpool player.

Loris Karius, the highly-rated young goalkeeper, has been brought in from Mainz to challenge for Simon Mignolet’s place in the starting line-up.

Then there’s Sadio Mane, Liverpool’s tormentor in their 3-2 defeat against Southampton last March, whose £30million transfer fee made him the club’s third most-expensive signing of all time.

Will Klopp’s new broom now stop its sweeping? It seems unlikely. Central midfielder and left-back remain priority positions, so who could be in line for a move to Anfield?

Take a look at the gallery above to see who Liverpool have been linked with this summer.
