Liverpool have told Crystal Palace that they will have to pay £30m to secure out-of-favour Christian Benteke.

According to reports, Palace manager Alan Pardew is looking to bring Benteke to Selhurt Park in a bid to boost their front-line after the Belgium striker failed to impress under Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Merseyside club are refusing to let Benteke leave cheaply though and are determined to recoup most of the £32.5m they paid Aston Villa a year ago.

The Telegraph suggests that Liverpool would rather hold onto the player for the foreseeable future rather than let him go for below his market value which they are adamant remains at £30m.

The striker has indicated that he wants to stay and fight for his place but the recent signing of Sadio Mane will considerably hinder his chances.

With Danny Ings back in consideration alongside Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi, Benteke’s future at Anfield looks increasingly bleak.

In light of the current state of the transfer market, with a number of Premier League clubs demanding extremely high prices for their players, Liverpool are unlikely to budge on their demands comfortable in the knowledge that an appropriate offer will eventually come their way.

Pardew’s Palace are the only side to register an interest in the Liverpool striker but West Ham have also been linked with the player in the past year.
