Liverpool have reportedly held discussions with RB Leipzig with a view to bringing forward the transfer of Naby Keita.

Keita is already due to join the Merseyside club in a £57m move this summer but following Philippe Coutinho’s departure, Liverpool are keen to accelerate the deal.

Despite Leipzig publicly insisting Keita will not be allowed to leave early, The Times reports that the Bundesliga club are more open to the idea behind closed doors.

On Thursday, head coach Ralph Hasenhüttl claimed: “Nothing has changed. We don’t have a reason to sell before the summer.”

Elsewhere, Daniel Sturridge appears to be angling for a move as he searches for regular first-team football away from Anfield.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool are willing to listen to offers around the £30m mark for the striker, who has scored three goals in 14 appearances so far this season.

Sturridge has attracted interest from Southampton and West Ham United recently and still harbours hopes of forcing his way into Gareth Southgate’s England World Cup squad.

Liverpool are also reportedly interested in youngster James Maddison, who has impressed in the Championship for Norwich City this season.

However, The Mirror claim that Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton will provide competition for young midfielder’s signature.

21-year-old Maddison, who joined Norwich from Coventry City two years ago, has six goals and five assists to his name in the second tier this season.
