Robert Lewandowski has become the latest Bayern Munich player to call on Leroy Sane to join them from Manchester City FC, admitting there is excitement in the squad for his arrival.

The German winger has been linked to the Bavarian giants in recent weeks, having endured a frustrating season at the Etihad, with Pep Guardiola often overlooking him in his starting line-up.

And Polish striker Lewandowski is eager for Sane to join Niko Kovac's side, as they look to make progress in Europe once more after elimination at the hands of Liverpool in the last 16 last season.

"Bayern's German players are now very much looking forward to Sane's signing," Lewandowski said.

"But we have to wait and see what is going on."

"They (Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery) are legends, of course their departure is sad. But Bayern will also sign more and better replacements.

"I believe that the winger Bayern will sign in the future will be as good as Robben and Ribery."

Leon Goretzka has also talked up the possibility of his compatriot joining.

"Leroy knows that Munich is a very beautiful city. No one has to make it very palatable to him. He knows that he can always ask me if he needs advice or wants to hear my opinion," Goretzka said.

"...One thing is clear: we would all be ecstatic if he comes. But I'll be damned if I put him under pressure or influence his opinion.

"I had a similar situation last year, had to make the decision for myself. And I was also of the opinion that one should do that best alone."
