Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Leicester City dominated the Championship last season, reaching 102 points and gaining automatic promotion as champions.
As with any newly promoted club, their first aim will be to make sure of their safety at the top level but if they can keep their form from last season going, they may surprise a few this year.
COMPLETED TRANSFERS
Matthew Upson - Free from Brighton
Former Arsenal, West Ham and Birmingham centre-back, Upson will bring plenty of Premier League experience to the newly promoted Foxes. The 35-year-old had a good season on the south coast with Brighton, playing 43 league games, but the chance to return to the top flight was too good to pass up.
Marc Albrighton - Free from Aston Villa
The 24-year-old's career at Villa Park had started to go nowhere over recent years and this could be the change Albrighton needs to recapture his good form of a few years ago. The winger has failed to score in his past two seasons and was shipped out on a short term loan to Wigan last year.
Ben Hamer - Free from Charlton
The goalkeeper started his career in the Premier League with Reading although never played in the top flight. Now he has signed for Leicester following three decent seasons with Charlton. The 26-year-old stopper should be able cover for Kasper Schmeichel, should Leicester keep hold of their current number one, that is.
Jack Barmby - Free from Manchester United
The 19-year-old striker scored five goals in 17 games in a loan spell with Hartlepool last season. Son of England midfielder Nick, Jack Barmby is a versatile front man who has been capped by England's Under 19s four times.
Leonardo Ulloa - £8m from Brighton & Hove Albion
The Argentinian striker joined for a club-record £8m. He scored on his Premier League debut for the Foxes, in the 2-2 draw with Everton.
