Your support makes all the difference.Sunderland have announced the signing of Jack Rodwell from Manchester City.
The 23-year-old arrives at the Stadium of Light on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
Rodwell has been capped three times by England but found it hard to break into the Manchester City team since moving from Everton. Rodwell arrived in August 2012 for £12m but failed to establish himself in the first team under either Roberto Mancini or Manuel Pellegrini.
He started just 16 matches in his two seasons at the Etihad, failing to make it into the team past the likes of Yaya Toure, Javi Garcia, Fernandinho and Gareth Barry.
Sunderland are believed to have paid about £10m to sign Rodwell, who was touted as a future England captain when he burst onto the scene as a teenager under David Moyes.
Rodwell joins former City players Adam Johnson and Costel Pantilimon, who was signed earlier this summer, in the North East.
A statement on the Manchester City website said: "Jack was a popular member of the squad and an enthusiastic contributor to the club's work in the community, delighting local children with appearances at several City in the Community events.
"All at Manchester City FC would like to thank Jack for his contribution and wish him all the best for the future."
