Inter Milan expect Sneijder to sign new deal

Internazionale president Massimo Moratti is confident that Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder will sign a new contract in the next few days, ending continuing speculation about the player’s future.

The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with Manchester United in recent times, but Moratti has no doubts that Sneijder will stay put at the San Siro.

He told Sky Italia: “Negotiations have reached a good stage. I think that Sneijder should sign a contract extension next week.”

Cagliari’s Italy goalkeeper Federico Marchetti has started legal action against his club in a bid to secure a move away from the Stadio Sant'Elia.

The 27-year-old has not featured at all for the Sardinians so far this season, having made known his desire to move on in the summer, and is now lodging a complaint of bullying in the workplace.

Club president Massimo Cellino responded by saying: “If anyone deserves money in damages then it is me, as I had to buy another goalkeeper.

“Cagliari cannot be accused of bullying, as we are allowing him to train regularly and giving him the chance to fight for his place.”

Meanwhile, Palermo star Javier Pastore has again played down talk of him being lined up for a big-money move to either Real Madrid or Barcelona, maybe even as early as January.

He told La Repubblica: “My future? I am well at Palermo and I don't think about anything else.

“The team is always growing and I am growing with the team. I don't see any reason as to why I should leave.”
