Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Both Lloris and Kane have been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer with Louis van Gaal reported to be given another £150million to turn United into Premier League and Champions League contenders.
With David De Gea seemingly set to move to Real Madrid at some point, 28-year-old Lloris has been identified as a potential replacement.
The France No 1 has previously stated he wants to be back in the Champions League; Spurs ideally want to keep Lloris, who has been consistently among their best players since joining, but may sell if they get a large offer.
Kane has been linked with a move of up to £50million after the 21-year-old England striker bagged 31 goals in a breakout season last term.
The Daily Mirror report that Pochettino has now moved to give Lloris and Kane extra responsibility in a bid to keep them at White Hart Lane.
Both captained the side regularly last season, but Younes Kaboul was the official captain with Lloris sharing vice duties with Emmanuel Adebayor.
