Was this the moment that Gerard Pique’s future with Barcelona was revealed? The centre-back has been dropped from the first XI in recent weeks and amid growing talk of a move to the Premier League, it appears all is not well at the Nou Camp.

Pique has been linked with a transfer to either Chelsea or his former club Manchester United, but up until now he has remained committed to the Catalan club that he has enjoyed phenomenal success with.

That appears to have changed though with the arrival of new manager Luis Enrique, who has shown a preference to start Marc Bartra alongside Javier Mascherano rather than the World Cup winner.

When Enrique made his third and final substitution of the match in replaced Sergio Busquets for Xavi during Saturday’s 2-1 comeback win against Almeria, he turned around to see Pique out of his seat in the dugout.

Despite having no chance of coming on, Enrique sent Pique to warm-up, and the 27-year-old rather embarrassingly obliged as he jogged down the touchline – although he was clearly unimpressed.

Pique has made 274 appearances for Barcelona to date, winning the La Liga title four times as well as the Champions League in 2008-09 and 2010-11.
