Liverpool are reported to be considering an £18m move for Paris Saint-Germain and Argentina striker Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Brendan Rodgers has been searching for a striker since the £75m sale of Luis Suarez earlier this summer, but has seen a deal for Loic Remy fall through because the Frenchman failed a medical.

A deal for Swansea striker Wilfried Bony may be back on the cards with Swansea seemingly ready to drop his obstructive £19m release clause.

But, according to the Daily Star, Liverpool could launch a bid for the Argentinian striker.

With PSG already likely to fall foul of Financial Fair Play after the £50m transfer of David Luiz, the oil-rich club need to raise funds if they are to sign Angel di Maria from Real Madrid.

Spanish newspaper AS also report that PSG want a deal for Lavezzi to move quickly as Monaco have lodged a €55m (£43.5m) bid for Di Maria.

Lavezzi, 29, had a decent season for the Ligue 1 champions last year scoring 12 goals and adding 10 assists in all competitions. But with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani guaranteed starting places, Lavezzi would be surplus to requirements were Di Maria to arrive.

Liverpool face a fight to sign Lavezzi with Juventus interested - the Argentine striker is believed to prefer a move back to Italy, where he previously played for Napoli, over Merseyside.

Brendan Rodgers has already spent nearly £90m this summer on adding Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren from Southampton, along with Emre Can, Lazar Markovic and Divock Origi.
