Manchester United's hopes of signing Ever Banega, if they really ever had them, have receded amid reports that the midfielder is close to signing for Inter Milan.

The Sevilla player, who will be out of contract in the summer, has been linked with a move to Old Trafford throughout the month although whether there is any solidity to the rumours has been unclear.

According to reports in Italy, the 27-year-old is set to undergo a medical with Inter Milan with a view to signing a three-year deal. Should the story from Tuttosport be true, Banega will definitely not be moving to Manchester United.

The Argentina international has scored six goals in 23 appearances for Sevilla this season.
