Eden Hazard has answered West Ham fans after they teased the Chelsea forward over the growing speculation that he will join Real Madrid.

The Belgium international tore West Ham apart in Monday night’s Premier League encounter as he scored both goals in Chelsea’s 2-0 victory, which lifts Maurizio Sarri’s side up to third in the table and gives them the advantage in the race for Champions League football next season.

But after scoring a mesmerising opener to put Chelsea in front, Hazard was met with chants of “Eden Hazard, he’s off to Madrid”, with the Premier League side currently battling to keep their prized asset at Stamford Bridge for next season.

Reports in Spain have suggested that Hazard will be offered a six-year contract and significant pay rise to move to the Santiago Bernabeu next season, but he responded to Monday night’s taunts by insisting the West Ham fans had no idea what they were talking about.

“They are wrong,” Hazard told Sky Sports. “Now I'm just focused with Chelsea until the end of the season. I just want to finish top four, Europa League, we still have a lot to do and then we'll see.

“Now we have got good momentum. We have won three games in a row and for the mentality it's good to keep going like that. Top four is our target and Europa League is our target.”

Hazard has remained coy on his future at Chelsea – much like he did back in 2012 when he teased fans over who he was leaving Lille for – but he has spoken publicly to reaffirm his commitment to Chelsea until at least the end of the season.

The 28-year-old has further pushed his claim to being the best player currently in the Premier League, and his two goals on Monday took his tally to 16 league goals this season and 19 in all competitions, leading the charts for Chelsea by a long way with teammate Pedro striking just half that number at eight Premier League goals.

Had it not been for Hazard’s heroics this season, Chelsea would find themselves well out of the top-four battle, and while both Spurs and Arsenal can move ahead of them if they win their respective games in hand, their inconsistent form this season suggests that none of the sides battling to join Liverpool and Manchester City in the Champions League next season will win every match between now and the end of the season.

It's for that reason that Hazard’s class may prove the difference in the season run-in, and his brilliant solo effort to open the scoring on Monday even left himself impressed as he dribbled his way through the heart of the West Ham midfield before splitting their defence in two.

“It was just something special,” he added. “I took the ball and when I can go forward I try to go forward and then when I'm in the box it's hard for the defender to challenge me because if they touch me, it's maybe a penalty.

“I think I was a bit lucky at the end when I shot, but it was a good goal to be fair.”
