The fiancée of the soon-to-be former Newcastle United defender Davide Santon has said she is “disgusted” with the way the club has treated her partner.

In a series of posts on Twitter that have since been deleted, Tyneside-based Chloe Sanderson claimed the left-back had been “fully fit for a while now” but was forced out by the club “whose only intentions are to make £££”.

Newcastle confirmed today that the defender will return to Inter Milan on an initial loan basis, three and a half years after he was signed from the Italian club.

The 24-year-old Italy international has been out with a knee injury for the last eight months, and the club are thought to be happier trusting the long-term fitness of Paul Dummett and Masadio Haidara in Santon’s position.

In a series of damaging accusations that have been denied by the club, Sanderson wrote on Twitter: “Just to put it out there, Davide declined Inter Milan's first offer but was pushed out by Newcastle United to leave.

“Disgusted with how Davide has been treated, fully fit for a while now with no chance to play- a club whose only intentions are to make £££.

“This is not just a loan, it’s a loan with obligation to buy. Newcastle as good as told him if he stayed he didn’t have a place in the team.

It was reported earlier that Newcastle had prevented the Italian from joining Premier League rivals like West Ham and West Brom.

And Ms Sanderson said: “They tried to deny it this morning, to keep it on the down low so other teams wouldn’t put in an offer for JUST a loan, because Davide would have preferred that, to stay in the Premier League, but Newcastle would have lost the guaranteed buy and money.

“They are a business not a club. And as long as they keep losing players with the passion Davide had, they are killing NUFC, and killing the support from the fans who stick around after all the s***.”
