Your support makes all the difference.David De Gea signed a new four-year contract with Manchester United today, just 10 days after his failed move to Real Madrid, but this doesn't mean that his move to the Bernabeu is off, merely that should he move there, it will be for a bigger fee than was agreed this summer.
De Gea's new United contract reportedly includes a €50m (£36m) release clause, meaning that the 'keeper can still compete the move at the end of the season, but for a higher fee than the £29m previously agreed.
With one year left on his old deal, the goalkeeper was on the brink of a £29m move to Real last week, before the transfer collapsed on deadline day. Both clubs blamed each other as the necessary paperwork was not completed in time.
Manager Louis van Gaal had kept De Gea out of his starting line-up for the first six matches of the season because he felt the Spaniard was not able to focus properly owing to Madrid's interest in him, but it is expected that he will return to the United starting XI for the Premier League match against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday evening.
