Your support makes all the difference.Liverpool are on the brink of striking a deal with Burnley to secure the services of 21-year-old striker Danny Ings this summer, though Aston Villa’s attempts to take Rickie Lambert from Anfield ended in failure tonight.
Burnley have refused to jeopardise their fight for Premier League survival by letting Ings go in the January transfer window. But in a highly unusual arrangement, Liverpool are now expected to agree terms with the Turf Moor club in the next few weeks, in a deal which would see Ings arrive in June – possibly for a fee of £5m.
Manchester City have made an inquiry about the player this month, while Tottenham Hotspur offered money and a player in exchange for him last week – an offer that Burnley turned down flat.
The main deals of transfer deadline day were widely anticipated – Chelsea’s signing of Fiorentina Juan Cuadrado for a £23.3m fee which could rise to £26.8m and André Schürrle’s departure to Wolfsburg for £24m. Tottenham Hotspur loaned Aaron Lennon to Everton, with a view to a permanent deal, while MK Dons’ Delle Ali joined Spurs in a £5m move. The club’s hopes to sell Emmanuel Adebayor were scuppered when he refused to leave for QPR and West Ham.
