The future of Daniel Agger continues to come under speculation, with Atletico Madrid the latest side to be linked with the Liverpool player.

The centre-back has reportedly told Reds manager Brendan Rodgers he is keen to move on, particularly following the arrival of Dejan Lovren from Southampton. Agger was not in the team for the weekend win over Southampton, however that absence was due to a knee injury.

The 29-year-old must currently compete with Lovren, Martin Skrtel, Kolo Toure and Mamadou Sakho for a place in the side.

Atletico Madrid have emerged as the latest suitors for the Denmark international's services amid suggestions Diego Godin is set for a £27m move to Bayern Munich.

The Spanish champions have seen a number of the players who took them to the title and within moments of Champions League glory leave the club this summer and are expected to make a few additions before the window closes. There is money to spend follow high profile exits, including that of Diego Costa who moved to Chelsea for £32m.

Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Agger ever since Thomas Vermaelen switched to Barcelona. Arsene Wenger has admitted he is keen to sign an experienced centre-back.
